Diet Strategy for Kidney Cancer Almost Always Involves Soups

Kidney cancer is a serious condition, and even though you get medical treatment, you may still suffer from symptoms that are annoying, painful and make you want to give up.

There’s no simple answer for these ongoing symptoms but there is one truth about health that you must know:  until you start improving your nutritional status, your symptoms will remain. But once you consume enough nutrients to start healing the body, you’ll begin to notice changes that can make some of those symptoms a thing of the past.

You won’t feel like eating much, thus the only way to get nutrition in is with healthy soup and supplemental drinks. Supplemental drinks are often artificial, and therefore not going to offer a lot of life and vitality to you. However, healthy soup could be homemade and be full of life and nutrition.

Healthy Soup Guidelines

You don’t even have to make these yourself. You may have a team of friends and family who are helping you through the recovery time period and really, all you have to do is request that they make soups for you. However, you’ll have to set the rules for them. Here are some guidelines.

  • Homemade soups only. No canned soups, canned soups doctored up, or soups from the grocery stores. This way you’ll cut down on the amount of sodium plus the GMOs, plus all the artificial preservatives and chemicals.
  • You need two different soups each week, and at least one quart and a half of each soup. The amount of soup you can consume daily may have to be cleared via your doctor or dietitian especially if fluid is restricted.
  • You need simple soups at first made with only two vegetables or three at most, for the first 2 weeks. After that, depending on how you are doing, they may be able to include three different vegetables.
  • No exceptionally spicy soups.
  • Soups may be mildly flavored with herbs and spices but not MSG and not broths.
  • No added salt unless it follows your present guidelines.
  • Deliver the soups in quart sized containers so they may be poured out and heated in a soup pot.
  • Soups that are chunky may be blended to make it easier to store, reheat and sip.

These guidelines may seem like you’re being bossy, but the real truth is that if someone breaks the rules, it can give you a health setback. Simply remind them that you really do want to recover fully and are grateful for their assistance.


Eating healthy soup that is homemade will increase your body’s vitamin and mineral levels, antioxidants, polyphenols, and medicinal constituents found in food. The real healing starts with food – good, healthy food that is full of life. Life begets life.
